SAFE SPORT PROGRAMMING & MAAPP
USA Swimming is committed to safeguarding all of its members with the welfare of its athlete members as top priority.
Safe Sport is USA Swimming’s comprehensive abuse prevention program and provides tools for swim clubs to educate their members and intervene in risky situations.
We, Swim Fort Lauderdale, fully endorse and support USA Swimming’s Safe Sport and Safety programs, as well as MAAPP.
CLOSED DECK POLICY:
For the FLAC pool and any other pools that SFTL uses for practices - Due to USA Swimming rules and Safe Sport regulations, Swim Fort Lauderdale has a Closed Pool Deck Policy for all practices. We understand that many parents want to stay and wait for their children to complete their practice due to driving distances or time, but we ask that you do so in the grandstands on the upper deck of the north building OR by the front gate area.
Parents being allowed on deck during practice is a liability and safety issue. Swim Fort Lauderdale assumes liability for the pool area during our practices, and there are strict insurance requirements for non-USA Swimming members. The only individuals that should be on deck during practice are the USA Swimming certified coaches and swimmers. Moreover, the policy is in place to prevent distractions for the coaches as well as the athletes.
Siblings who are not SFTL members should be off the deck and well supervised during practices by parents. SFTL member siblings waiting for their practice to start or waiting for their sibling's practice to finish should be well supervised by a parent.
Parents, siblings, and spectators are to use the public restrooms ONLY located near the concession stand/diving well. The bathrooms & locker rooms in the south building are only for SFTL swimmers.
If you have questions about your child’s training or team policies, contact the coach after or before practice.
